domino43It's been 2 months since my last real update and a month since the last meme, so I should really get on this. I actually meant to update about a month ago, but I just kept putting it off.
I was going to do a health update last time, so I'll do that first and get it out of the way. First off, a couple weeks before my last appointment, I got a call that my Dr. was no longer there and I had to reschedule with his replacement. So I did. The call came very sudden because when I had been there last he was talking about seeing me the next time and didn't make any indications that he wouldn't be there. I still don't know why he left. I can't seem to find any info anywhere. Anyway, so I saw the replacement. That whole day was an ordeal. I got there a little early, so I was waiting. They weren't calling me, okay, new doc, they're going to be behind. Then most of the office left for lunch. *sigh* Great, now it's going to take longer. Then, just before lunch time is over, they call a tornado warning. Great. Now everyone has to gather in a back hallway away from all the windows. After about 45 minutes or so back there, the all-clear is given and everyone goes back to what they were doing. Everyone comes back from lunch. I'm still not getting called. One of the nurses comes out and sees I'm still sitting there. "Do you have an appointment today?" Yes. "We were never alerted that you's checked in." I did at 10:45am. It's now nearly 1pm. "Just a minute." So she goes back to pull my chart and call up front to say they were never alerted to my checking-in. I finally go back. Luckily he Dr was still there. She was only supposed to be there part of the day. I guess I was lucky there was a tornado warning or she might have left before I got back there. We had a very short appointment. Since things are staying about the same, she didn't want to see me for 2 months, so I have a while before my next appointment.
*whew* I didn't realize that would be so long. Okay, on to other stuff.
Writing. I haven't gotten ANY done in so long, I don't even know if I remember how.
I have been reading lately. Sort of. Corie got Vol. 1 of Death Note from the library and I read it one evening because I was bored. SO I went on to the Library system site and requested Vols. 2-5. I just finished those and requested 6-9. I'll probably go pick those up next week or the Monday after, thanks to Thanksgiving. My question: Why am I only NOW discovering Death Note?? Like, I'd heard of it and heard a lot of people talking about it, but it never really sounded as interesting as it actually is. But then, I haven't seen the Anime either, I'm just going off the Manga. But still. Also, I don't think I like L very much.
Conan. HE'S FINALLY BACK ON MY TV!! I missed him so much. I wish the show was on 5 days a week instead of 4, but I'm not complaining because 4 is infinitely better than none. And you can tell he's happy to be back which makes me even happier that he's back.
Also, by participating in all the points earning survey sites I do, as of the beginning of October I had earned $95 in Amazon gift codes. So I bought a new 1TB hard drive for the comp, since the old one was full (only 80GB). I also got a 50ft cord so I could have internet and I had to get a IDE/PATA to SATA converter, since the HD is obviously SATA and the comp is so old it only has IDE. Anyway, I finally got everything and yesterday I had Pauly change out the HD. When I installed Windows the first time it somehow missed a bunch of stuff so I had to re-install it. I worked that time. But I went to play a song yesterday and it said that I had no sound device. URG. So I thought he had accidentally wiggled my sound card loose. Oh well, I dealt with it last night since i was spending most of my time downloading programs and plugins and crap. So today after he got home from work, I shut it down and unplugged it so he could open it and fix the sound card. When he did, he noticed that the sound is on-board. *headdesk* As soon as he said that, I realized I probably only needed the sound driver. We both wondered why neither of us thought of that in the first place. Especially since as soon as I thought of it I remembered having to download it the last time I re-installed Windows on the old HD. So I got it turned back on, downloaded the driver, it restarted and now it's working perfectly.
I NOW HAVE A FUNCTIONING COMPUTER THAT'S MOSTLY EMPTY AND CONNECTED TO THE INTERWEBS! YAY!
With what was left on my Amazon gift codes amount, I got myself a Beatles 16oz Ceramic travel mug. The lid doesn't fit that well, but I'll rarely use that. I've been using it nearly every day.
And that's all I can think of for now.
