So, do offices use different time than the rest of us?
On January 2nd, I went to the University where I used to work and filled out some forms to have my PERS (Public Employee Retirement Service) money refunded. I know, it's smart to leave it in there so I have money when I retire, but I only have enough for, like 1 month's payment anyway. So, I fill out the papers and they say that they'll get them sent in and it should be about 3-4 weeks until I get my check. Well, Tuesday was 3 weeks and according to the OPERS website everything was still in my account. So I called them and they said it takes about 10 business days from when they recive the request, but that they didn't recieve mine. They told me to call my former employer to find out what was going on. I called and they said that they were just working on those papers today and tomorrow. So I figure it's going to be another 2 1/2 weeks or so before I get my check.
Normally this wouldn't be a problem, except I had to borrow $168 from my brother to catch up our cable/internet bill. I can give him, like $30 a week to help pay him quicker, but I was only going to have to do that for a week or two before I got my check. And he just found a bill he forgot he had that he needs to pay. He's not going to be happy to have to wait an extra 2 weeks for his money.
Why couldn't they have told me that they wouldn't be turning the papers in right away like they made it seem?
