Friends and phones.
~ Chapter 9 ~
The next Friday night, George calls Katorea and asks her if she wants to go out with him and the boys Saturday night. He also asks if she knows three friends she can get to go out with them as well, for Paul, John and Ringo. She says that she would love to go out with them, but she would have to call a few of her friends. She has three people in mind, but is not sure if they are free Saturday night. He states that she can call him back later and tell him if they can go. She calls her best friend Caitlyn. “Cait, you’ll never guess who I just got off the phone with.”
“George?” she answers nonchalantly.
“Okay, but you’ll never guess what he asked.”
“If you would go out with him?”
“Besides that…”
“I don’t know, what?”
“He wanted to know if I had three friends that would be free tomorrow night to be dates for John, Ringo, and Paul. Of course, I thought of you when he said Paul’s name. I was wondering if you were busy tomorrow night and if you would like to be Paul’s date.”
“Did you really have to ask? I mean, come on. You know that I would drop whatever I was doing to go out with Paul. That would be a dream come true.”
“I take that as a ‘yes’?”
“Of course it’s a ‘yes’! What do you think I am, stupid?”
“Do you think Lea and Delia could come? I know that Lea loves John and Delia loves Ringo, but I haven’t talked to either of them in tree or four days.”
“Well, Lea was thinking of going out with Geoff, but I don’t know if they are or not. I haven’t talked to Delia in a week.”
“Okay, can you call Lea and find out? I’ll call Delia. Just have Lea call me with her answer. I have to let George know what’s going on soon.”
“Okay, I’ll just have Lea call you, I’m sure she’ll want to confirm that it’s true anyway. Talk to you later.”
“See you. Bye.”
Katorea calls Delia as Caitlyn calls Lea. When Delia answers the phone, Katorea inquires, “How would you like to be the date for a friend of mine named…Ringo Starr?”
“What?! Who is this?”
“Relax, it’s Kat.”
“Thank God, you scared me. What can I do you for?”
“Didn’t you hear me?”
“Wait a minute, you were serious? You can really get me a date with Ringo?”
“Would I lie to you about something as serious as that?”
“I don’t know, but you’d better not be. Now, tell me the story.”
“Well, as you know, I went out with George last week…”
“…And Paul…”
“Don’t remind me. No, really, I had a great time with him. Anyway, George just called me and asked if I wanted to go out with him and the guys tomorrow night. Of course, I said yes. Then he asked me if I had three friends I could get to be dates for the other three. I immediately thought of you when he said Ringo’s name. I told him I had some people in mind, but I’d have to check with them first. I called Caitlyn, and she’s calling Lea. Lea’s gonna call me and let me know. How about you? Are you free tomorrow night?”
“I don’t know, it all depends on if I have a date with this guy Ringo…” Delia teases. “Of course I am. So, what should I wear? What time do I need to be ready by?”
“I’m not sure yet. When I find out if Lea can go, and call George back, I’ll find out. I’ll call you back then and let you know. Actually, I think I’ll ask George to have each of them call his ‘prospective date’ and talk to her tonight or tomorrow. I’ll let you know about that later, too.”
“Okay. Well, I’ll let you go so Lea can call you and you can call George. I’ll talk to you later.”
“Bye.”
About a minute after Katorea hangs up, Lea calls. She wants to verify that Caitlyn wasn’t joking around with her. She also tells Katorea that she can go. Katorea tells her the same thing she told Delia, only with John’s name in place of Ringo’s. Then she calls George. She tells him that she has three friends that would love to go with them and tells him who they are. He thinks it is great that each of them likes a different member of the band. She tells him her idea about the boys calling his ‘prospective date’. He agrees that that would be nice. After she gives him each of their numbers, she asks him, “Would you like me to describe them for you, so you can tell those guys what the girls look like?”
“Sure, why not,” George responds.
“Okay. Caitlyn is about average height. She’s very slender and has nice legs. She has blonde hair a little longer than mine. She’s a writer. We sometimes write stories together. She really likes to write poetry and songs, though. She’s left-handed, too. You can tell Paul that. I think that’s what first caught her eye about him. Lea is also about average height. She has dishwater blonde hair about my length. She’s an artist who does mostly paintings and drawings. She likes to do abstracts sometimes. She’s very talented. Delia is short, sort of. Of course, everyone is short compared to me, but she’s shorter than normal. She has red hair a bit shorter than mine. She loves to dance. She’s a photographer. She loves doing nature shots. Sometimes Lea will do a painting of one of her shots, or incorporate a shot into one of her paintings. It always turns out nice when they work together. Anyway, that’s them. Any questions?”
“Nope. That’s perfect. I’ll let the guys know what’s going on and give them the numbers. We’ll pick you all up at your house tomorrow night around seven o’clock, then?”
“Until tomorrow. Tell everyone I said ‘hi’ and tell John to have a pillow ready for me,” they both laughed. “Bye.”
“Bye, luv. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Katorea calls Caitlyn, Lea, and Delia and tells them that they will be going out to a club. She tells them to be at her house, ready by six-thirty the next day, just in case the boys show up early. She let’s them know that Paul, John or Ringo, respectively, will be calling each of them. They all agree to let her know what happens and how they get on with them on the phone.
