Update time

I should really update. I know I should have at least a few days ago, but I just haven't really had the time. i haven't really had much time on the internet lately. I've been getting up late and going to bed early. Not necessarily going to sleep, but lying down and slowly falling asleep. Okay, so it's more that I catch something on TV before I fall asleep and want to finish it. Or for a few days Corie was falling asleep on the couch and I couldn't lie down until she woke up.

I've been so tired lately because of my Vitamin D. The Dr. and I were just talking about it the other day. I guess when he first tested me my Vit D was below 6, which is the lowest it can get. It's supposed to be around 50 or higher. For a while it was up around 27, but then it dropped down to 15 the last time it was tested. It only dropped like that because the high dose I need to be on for a while to get it up costs $15 for 4 pills and I just couldn't afford that and my Prednisone. The Prednisone is a little more important for now. I'll be weened off that before too long, so then I can really get the Vit D like I need. He said that even after I get it up I'm probably going to have to be on 1000-2000 units a day. The Rx is 50,000 units a week, so even 2000 units a day is way less. But if I don't want to feel so blah and get depressed, I'll have to take it.

Also, the shots are getting old. :\

Oh, and the Dr. wrote me a Rx for a handicap parking placard. I brought it up and he told me he was glad I'd remembered to ask him this time. Now I just have to fill out the paperwork (one short sheet) and give them my Rx. It's only $3.50 for it and he's got it for a year. We'll see where I'm at then.

Besides the health stuff, I don't think there's really anything else I need to update on. I already posted the pics of Bearded!Conan... Nope. I think that's about it for now.

The Dr. said I'm way too low for food Vit D to do any good. Plus the Methotrexate I'm on says i can't be in the sun. Like, basically at all. So, right now it's a catch 22.
*hugs invisible Conan back*

Bummer about your Vitamin D. Since I have Degenerative Osteoarthritis, my doctor has me eating them "soft chew" type of Vitamin D's, which are like either eating small, cubed caramels ( like when you are a kid ) or cubed Tootsie Rolls ( because they come in either chocolate or caramel flavors ). I eat one of them babies 3x's a day for me. He says they more easily absorb into your bloodstream. He is an O.D., so I believe him. So far, so good.

I FINALLY found a grower for my med. Kevin and I finally decided against ourselves doing it in case A. the dog got into it and B. the "good stuff" always lets out a very pungent "skunky" type of smell and it'd be hard to hide that. Cassie would not be able to explain it to her friends when they came over, they'd find out, their parents would, blah, blah, blah, you get the picture. I am friends with some of her friends parents, already, and a few know about me and my "unique med needs" and are cool and understanding about it. Not all of them would be, though. Don't need that kind of stuff haunting us in the neighborhood.

I also have to have my thyroid meds make by a compounding pharmacist because the makers of Armour thyroid and all the other "natural" ones, are quitting making them because their "profit margins are not enough", in other words THEY ARE NOT MAKING ENOUGH MONEY OFF OF US! Bastards. So, my prescription that used to cost me $9.60 a mo. for 30 pills is now $36.50!

Isn't life just GRAND? *grumbles*

I'm sorry about the shots, too. Are they doing you any better at all?

It's good you found a grower. And that is a HUGE change in price. It's ridiculous, isn't it? Some meds are just SO expensive, when you know they shouldn't be.

I have seen a difference. I still have pain, but it's not quite as bad. They're mostly annoying.
