So, last week (the 20th), my mom's husband (I still refuse to call him my step-dad) had a heart attack. Nothing too bad. He had a stent put in and was home in a day or to. But, the part I can't say on FB, because my mom will see it, is that I really didn't care. I had no reaction to it, other than light annoyance that it was going to be the only thing my mom talked about for a little while. Also, I was quite surprised that she hadn't called us to let us know. We actually found out from my cousin because her mom, my mom's sister, told her and she happened to be here. I later found out that she didn't call anyone, but my aunt saw it on FB.

Over this past weekend, I talked to my mom on the phone and she asked me to print out a copy of the Cardiac Diet that I found, since they don't have the internet, and send it to her. Which I had no problem with. I mean, I really can't stand David, and don't really care that he had a heart attack, but I'm not going to tell her no when she asks me to send her a cardiac diet for him. I guess, mostly because it will make her life easier and that way if he has another heart attack I don't have to hear about it and there's no way anyone could put any blame on me, like, "She asked you to send her a cardiac diet, but you wouldn't, so she didn't know what was okay for him to eat, so he had another heart attack!" Not that they would, but, you never know.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't wish he would die or anything, I'm just completely apathetic to his well-being. I really, honestly don't care what happens to him. He could leave my mom tomorrow and I wouldn't care. He could die tomorrow and I really wouldn't care. He could get a billion dollars tomorrow and I wouldn't care. I just don't care about him in any way imaginable. My mom knows I don't like him, even though she thinks it's just because I wouldn't like anyone she was with that isn't my dad. Not at all true. Even if he was just some friend of hers, I wouldn't like him. There's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way. I'm extremely uncomfortable around him. I'm sure some of it has to do with the fact that he's way too touchy-feely for my liking. Which, if you're touchy-feely, whatever, but when I tell you I don't like to be hugged and I don't like it when you keep touching me, like hands on my shoulders and stuff, and you KEEP DOING IT, I'm not going to like you. When you refuse to ignore what I, and everyone else, tell(s) you, then I know that you're going out of your way to make me not like you. I mean, it's obvious to you that I don't even like it when my mom hugs me, even though I let her because she's my mom, after all, why on Earth do you think it's okay to touch me when I barely know you?

Anyway, whatever. I just had to get it off my chest that I really don't care what happens to him somewhere, and it couldn't be FB, because if my mom read that, I'd NEVER hear the end of it.

Namely,my (soon-to-be-ex)S-I-L.

I guess I should start at the...beginning. I don't remember if I mentioned anything before, but Neal's wife Kim filed for divorce. They've been separated for a while now and both have dated others. Anyway, at the end of November she filed the papers. Neal has no problem with that. In fact, he was hoping she would so he wouldn't have to spend out the money. Her mom/mom's family hates him so much (for no real reason) they payed for it. Anyway, like I said, he has NO problem with that. But before she did that, or rather, before she told him about that, she went and got a restraining order against him. For her and their daughter. Right before Thanksgiving. She called the cops and told them that he had threatened to take Catilena and go to Michigan and never bring her back. Okay, he said that, once, in the heat of an argument, like a few weeks or months prior. She knows he says things he doesn't mean when he's mad. It's a condition of his brain damage. But she decided to get to him by keeping him from seeing his daughter. Not smart. Even though this old threat was an empty threat, her family backed her up. They had a court appearance on Dec. 1st about it. She tried to tell the judge that she had never meant for Catilena to be on the restraining order. Except she had specifically told him and our cousin (while I was there) that she did. Anyway, they wanted her to get full custody. The judge didn't go for it, since there was no reason and they're still married. But Neal said he didn't care if she had temporary custody as long as he had visitations. The judge agreed. Then they wanted to do the exchanges of her at the police station, trying to make him seem like some horrible monster. She just made herself look bad, since the police station has no parking lot and the only parking spots are on a busy street. The judge told her how stupid it was. Neal suggested the Kroger parking lot. The judge said that was fine. Kim and her family were not happy because nothing went their way. The judge gave him every Wednesday and every other weekend. Not that's actually legal, since they aren't divorced yet. But, whatever.

Anyway, now that you know the backstory... Neal is supposed the have Catilena from Christmas Day until Jan. 4th. Only he doesn't have anywhere to stay with her. He could stay at our house, but we have no heat. We're supposed to, but the heater kind of broke. OH, yeah. Our electric got turned on and we got a tank of propane, but the heater suddenly won't work. The flame and pilot light keep going out. Dad thinks there may be a little water in the tubing. He needs to look at it. So, hopefully soon I'll be able to go home... Back to the story. Neal is supposed to have her for 9 days, but has no where to sleep with her. He tried to be responsible and tell Kim that he can't care for her properly right now, can he keep her for a couple days until he figures out something. She refuses. She is making her daughter be homeless for a week and a half because she doesn't want the inconvenience. Also, apparently her new boyfriend is gone and she's sleeping with some other guy. And letting Catilena see her go into the bedroom with him. Luckily she's only three and confused him for the boyfriend, but still... She's so stupid. She keeps INSISTING that the visitation thing says he HAS to take/keep her when it's his time. She just doesn't get that what it says is that if it's his time, she has to let him see her. So even though her daughter has no place to stay, she's making him keep her. Just because she doesn't feel like taking care of her.

IDK, it's just irritating.
domino43: (Maybe Baby - Dear LJ)
Let's do this one a little differently and see how it works out...

Okay, let's see. I've read 50/64 of the V.C. Andrews books. 2-3 weeks of books left to read and about a month and a half left of the year. I think I made pretty good time. And speaking of books, I am dingy. When I went to my appointment, I took the last two books I had just finished so I could take them back and pick up the next 9. I got there and turned off the car and then realized, "It's noon and there are only 2 cars here... *facepalm* It's Veteran's Day! They're closed today." So I had to drive around the block to drop the books in the after-hours drop box.

Like I said before, the Dr. doubled my MTX from 6.25mg to 12.5mg. It was such a small dose before I really didn't feel it, but this time It really stung and actually kind of hurt for a few minutes. It's so thick, too. I am definitely NOT looking forward to getting these shots now every week. *meep* With the increase, he's hoping I see some improvement quicker. Haven't seen any yet. Most people seem to say it takes about 12 weeks to see any real results, so I'm about halfway there.
Also, since I got back on my Prednisone (didn't have the money to get it for a couple weeks), I feel a little better. Pain has already gone down a tiny bit. Hopefully in a few more days it will be even better. I need to get a refill as soon as dad gets paid, though.

Also, as I said before, Corie has Mono. Still can't figure out where she got it, but she does. So, I'll be here a few days to help out until the fatigue starts wearing off a bit and she feels up to it. The kids seem like they should be okay. They haven't been too bad lately. We'll see after a few days.

As I said in my mini!post, I've been around (quite a bit, actually), but I just haven't really felt up to posting. There have been so many things I've wanted to say/rant about, but I just didn't feel it. I've been reading and commenting when I had something to say, so I haven't been ignoring you all. Just been kind of blah lately. I think I've been mostly tired.

I wish I had steady internet access/a reliable computer. I kind of wish I was taking part in NaNo. Can you believe I've never NaNo'd? Oh, well. One of these years, I guess. I just want to work on something. I have a couple things I need to finish (anyone remember me mentioning a certain George/Ringo Slash I wanted to write? Well I started it shortly after that, but then got quite stuck. A few weeks ago, I nearly doubled it in length, but it needs more. I just need to figure out a couple transitions and details and I should be able to finish it. Plus, that Kirill-Hans story I mentioned forever and a half ago over at VFB. I have that thing a little over half done and need to finish it, as well. AND I need to finish that Karl/Anita story. *headdesk* So much to write, but not quite enough muse to go around. And nowhere to keep it all in one place. And, and, and...

Okay. I think I'm done for now. Let's see how this post looks when it's posted. Just wanted to do something a little different.
domino43: (George - sit hat)
Still at brother's. Dad came to get me last night, but they weren't back at 2:30am, so he had to go home, since he works today. I fell asleep before they got home, which was probably about 4 or 5am. The way it looks now, he'll be taking me home after he gets home from work tonight. He's putting in deadbolts right now, so he won't have time to take me before work. Whatever. Doesn't really matter to me.

I'm feeling very melancholy today. I know part of it is because I'm tired. The rest, I don't know. I'm just sort of... Blah. Guess I'm just in one of those moods. Maybe it's the prednisone. It can cause mood changes. And fatigue/insomnia. Which would explain how tired I've been lately. Maybe I'll feel better later. All I know is that I need to tell the Dr. that the pain is getting worse again, see if I need to start on the Naproxen again. Or something. I don't know. We'll see what he has to say.

On the book front... I've fallen way behind with this last book. I'm only about 1/3 through it, though under normal circumstances I'd be just about done with it, or maybe done. I just couldn't concentrate on reading yesterday. I couldn't hold my eyes open and actually had to take a nap in the early evening.

Well, I guess it's time to go take my prednisone and find some lunch.
domino43: (Ringo - Need Sleep)
At the new house right now. Last night I was supposed to watch the kids while they went shopping before coming to pick the kids up to bring them here. No such luck. After unloading the last load (fridge, freezer, washer/dryer), they decided to hose out the fridge and freezer. Well, brother went to tip the fridge forward to empty the drip pan and he busted a window. Luckily it was in the garage. But he still had to fix it before they came to get the kids. While all this was going on, it got very late, so they decided I should come spend the night so that they could go do what they needed to today. They had to go make another trip to the house to get some stuff and right now, they're grocery shopping. Dad is supposed to come get me after he's off work. Don't know if we'll have to wait to leave or if they'll be back by then. The power was still on when they were there this afternoon, so hopefully it will be for a couple days. A lot of times if you get it turned off, it takes them a couple days to turn it off. We got here at like 6 am and kids were up running around early, so I got no sleep. Not to mention that I was sleeping on a narrow couch. I can't wait to get home and get a good night's sleep.

As far as the house goes, it's alright. The living room is big. But then, all that's in there right now is a couch and an entertainment center. There's another little room in the front and a small dining room and kitchen. There are 4 bedrooms upstairs. The 3 the kids have are actually pretty small. Their dressers and toys are going to be kept in the...I don't know what to call it...on the landing, I guess. Ryan is happy. He has Hannah Montana curtains (w/butterflies) in his pink room. Thomas' room is also pink with sheer pink striped curtains. Connor's is blue with shiny blue curtains w/butterflies. They plan on painting Thomas and Ryan's rooms. Unless, of course, they want to keep them pink. I know Ryan is probably going to keep his curtains, though. He likes them a little too much. LOL

Anyway, someone just pulled in, so I should probably get off here. Just wanted to check in. I'll be back on Thursday, since I have a Dr.s appointment on Friday morning.

It's D-day

domino43: (Hugh - cyan)
And the "D" stands for "Dey is moving". :P

They're actually taking a van full of stuff right this moment. Still a few more things, mostly big things like the fridge, freezer, washer & dryer. Dad told them that since we won't have power for a while, they can use the dryer so they won't have to buy one right away. They're already going to have to buy a kitchen table, a couch, some chairs, beds for the kids...

Anyway, the power gets turned off over here sometime tomorrow. We think we may have an idea for getting it turned on cheaper, but I have to call little brother to see if it's possible first. It'll still be a couple weeks until we can get it on if that works. Gotta wait until dad gets paid again. I'll be going over to brother's at least once a week to check my mail and internet still, so I won't be completely out of the loop.

Oh, and dad has and Alternative Power Source he got from somewhere. He plans on plugging the well pump into it everyday so we can still have some water for (cold!)showers and whatever else for a little bit every day. I'll probably try to find a clean bucket to fill so I can have water to heat and wash dishes with, if I need to. Or anything else I might need water for while he's at work. He'll take it to work to plug in to charge at work.

I have to send out my application for food stamps/medicaid today or tomorrow. Even if I can get temporary medicaid until I get a decision on SSI, that would help immensely. And even $10/month in food stamps would help. I know I can't eat more than $50/month so... Hopefully I'll get an appointment with them soon. I'll have to call my Dr.s office tomorrow and have him write me a letter describing my conditions and why I can't really work so they don't try to put me through Job-find. That program is a CROCK. NO ONE gets hired through Job-find. Anyway...

You know, I think I might make a small solar oven so I can bake some stuff from time to time. Maybe try to make some brownies in it or something. It'll give me something to do anyway. It's not like we won't be able to eat, because we've got a propane camp stove we'll be using for now, but sometimes you want something baked. And then I could make biscuits or something. Okay, I'm getting too excited over some cardboard and foil. :p

Anyway, I'll be on-and-off most of the day today, but after that, no net for a few days. :(

Eh, that's all I can think of for now.
domino43: (Maybe Baby - Dear LJ)
I have made a decision. The other day, I decided that I'm going to read ALL the V.C. Andrews books. My goal is to get them all read by the end of the year. If I keep reading them at the rate I have been, I should easily be able to do it. Especially after they move out and I have no internet. I'll have nothing to do all day, anyway. I'll probably see if I can do like I have in the past when I have no net and see if I can go over there once or twice a week to check up on things. Hopefully they'll say I can. We'll see.

Oh. And I was googling my grandpa's name (I really don't know why. I just felt like it) and stumbled on a MySpace of a girl in San Antonio that said her Grandpa, with the same name, had 5 kids, blah, blah, blah. The way she described him just sounded right. She also resembled one of my cousins up here, so I sent her a message telling her I thought we might be related and asked her some stuff. Turns out I was right. Just got a message back from her today telling me, yes, my assumptions were right. She mentioned her mom's name and my dad said, "Yeah!" b/c he couldn't remember if his oldest brother had 5 or 6 kids. So, I sent her a message back. It's so cool to actually know the name of someone down there, besides my uncle and a couple of his kids. I know my dad's been wanting to go down there for a while. The last time we saw my uncle was when he was up here about 5 years ago. And he's getting pretty old. I think he's...like 79 or so. I'd like to go down there and see him sometime before he dies, too. I mean, I've probably only seen him a dozen times in my life. And most of those times I was pretty young. Like, under 10. The last time I was down in San Antonio to see family down there, I was a month old. The only thing is, dad doesn't get his vacation and personal days until next September. He gets vacation soon, but it wouldn't be enough time. Hopefully he'll be able to take the full 2 weeks next year because he also needs to head over to Idaho and get his truck out of storage and send it back over here.

And just because I feel nostalgic, a pic of me when I was in San Antonio last time.

Got my toe taken care of this morning. Woot! \o/ The podiatrist cut off both sides and part of the top. Man, that needle with the numbing stuff in it HURT! That was the worst part. He bandaged it up with lots of padding. Says I should be down to normal band-aids after tomorrow. Luckily I have some Darvocet because when the numbness went away, it started to hurt. It's okay right now, just a slight stinging pain. I really need to get off it and rest it though. He said walking on it would make it bleed. After I finish up with this, I'll go lie down and put it up a little.

Just getting a chance to stop in here now. Dad had a job interview after my appointment. It seemed to go well. He's hoping to hear about a second interview soon. Hopefully he gets it because if/when brother moves out, we're going to need the money. Speaking of...they went to the bank yesterday and a loan for this one house looks good. They're going for a Rural Development loan because it's a house out in the country. Hopefully they'll get approved.

That's it for now. I need to go get my foot up.
domino43: (Fire Rainbow)
Today proved to be a bit interesting. One of my cousins just graduated from High School (his 2 older sisters didn't. One got a GED and the other hasn't even gotten that yet) and his graduation party was today. I went with my Grandma and cousin who's up for the summer. Doesn't seem like much until you know the story. Bear with me on this one...

See, My aunt hates my Grandma. Her mother. It's over something ridiculous. Okay...so, 20-some years ago my Grandma was trying to break up my Aunt and her husband and get her to hook up with one of my dad's brothers. Well, after she got the hint that my aunt wasn't going for that, my Grandma started messing around with him. No one knew yet. Then a little later she divorced my Grandpa and is now married to my Uncle (Dad's brother). This is the confusion I grew up with. And people wonder why we're weird. LOL To make matters...worse?...my uncle had just recently gotten out of prison. I have no idea what the whole thing was about. Supposedly something with one of his sister's daughters. I don't even know if I buy it. I spent a lot of time with him when I was little and never got that vibe from him. Whatever. Anyway, my aunt has spent all these years keeping my Grandma from seeing her kids and telling them she was bad and to stay away from her. My cousin decided he wanted her at his party and invited her without telling his mother. We were all expecting a big blow up. Surprisingly my aunt was completely civil and actually said a few words to her. We were all shocked. TBH, I was a little disappointed. I kind of wanted a big yelling match. Oh, well. After my Grandma left my cousin said something to my aunt about it and she said, "You're an adult, you can do what you want."

Anywho, party went well, got to see some people I hadn't seen in a while. Mom and David came down. One of these days she's really going to have to stop hugging me. But I know she won't. She knows I hate it. And I got to bring home the leftover cake, after others took some home.

So now I'm home relaxing, watching kids while brother and Corie are getting groceries. I'm gonna sleep good tonight.
domino43: (Fire Rainbow)
My grandma just called me and asked if I'd want to drive down to Norfolk, VA with her in late June/early July. She wants to go visit my uncle (the one in the Navy) and she needs someone to share driving with her. My uncle (that she's married to, other side of the family) just started his job and doesn't have vacation for a year. My mom was gonna go, but just found out she has to be around for work, just in case. One of my aunts volunteered and grandma told her she wouldn't be able to smoke in the car, but she said that'd be okay. Uncle and his wife said 'NO!' to her coming b/c she is a chain smoker and they don't want her to stink up their house. Yes, she's actually that bad. I guess mom called grandma back today and said she had the solution; she should ask me. I have nothing better to do and it would get me out of the house.

It's not concrete, since her finances are a little low right now. If she decides to go it will only be for, like, 4-5 days or so. She won't know until it gets closer to the end of June after taking care of a few things, so we'll see. She just wanted to know and give me a head's up. This could be fun.

SO, little brother is here for a few days on Spring Break (his first college SB). Him and Brother are messing around with his Pro Tools program (he's going to school for music), just messing around with the bass and guitar on it. They were playing with the settings and the bass and got some interesting stuff. They got a spooky breath sound from the plug, tortured moaning from fingers gliding on a string, the whispered word "Satan", and some noises where you can hear "I like it" and "I like it in the butt" really high pitched. All by accident. They're really freaky. Not including "I like it in the butt". That one's just hilarious. Let's see what else they can come up with.
domino43: (Cala - heart)
It's really been 3 weeks? EEP! It's taken me the last couple days to catch up. I skimmed over all/most of the posts, but I didn't really get to read many of them all the way through.

Finally got my comp hooked up, so I'll be able to get on more often now. Brother went and picked up a monitor from the house. Instead of the monitor that came with this comp he grabbed the 19" that dad had sitting on the porch. Luckily it works. OMG! Pics, especially Hi-res, look AWESOME on here! And I can read the text from practically halfway acros the room. And that's with the type set normal. I just wish it was a flat screen b/c it's set up in the living room on the coffee table and now I won't be able to watch TV while I'm laying down to go to sleep. Boo. :(

More updates under the cut. )

That's about all I can think of right now. Maybe I'll think of something later.

Blah.

SO mom's went alright. Except that I ended up having to chop all my hair off. I had a knot in my hair that conditioner hadn't gotten out all the way. She handed me some scissors and off it came. GRR! Now it's all short in back, long in front. OH NOEZ! I LOOK LIKE TEH EMO! I really hate short hair. The last time I had short hair was in first grade and it took forever to grow back out. I still have to get to a salon or something to get it fixed up, as it's still the rough cut I gave myself.

Anyway, the living room comp suddenly won't stay on. The charger isn't keeping contact so the battery won't charge. This laptop has a different size plug so it won't fit. I may not really be on much until and unless we can figure out the other one. I'll try to get on to at least check my email every few days.

So, it's come to my attention that Ryan, who isn't yet 5, likes to make himself toast when he's hungry. That reminded me of when my little brother was about 5 or 6 and started making himself corn after school.
domino43: (On The Town - You're Awful)
So last Saturday my brother Paul and I went half-way to Columbus (Bucyrus) to see our cousin whom we haven't seen since she was a tiny baby. We basically sat there in her living room for 3 hours. Paul wasn't talking because he doesn't talk when he's not in a comfortable surrounding. Cousin didn't talk because she and Paul had talked on the phone before and he'd answered all her questions.

I guess I should explain a little. The reason we haven't seen her since she was a tiny baby is because of her parents. Her dad, our uncle, had her mom stealing from us and our grandparents. Because of that, he was disowned by grandparents. Shortly after cousin was born they moved and no one really cared. A bit later we found out that they had gotten a divorce and that's the last we heard of cousin.

A few months ago, she contacted all of us that are on MySpace and her and Paul started talking occasionally. Last week, Catilena got ahold of his cell and accidentally called her so Paul talked to her and she asked if he wanted to come out over the weekend. He took me because he hates to drive anywhere by himself. So we went and no one really tgalked and we watched TV with her family. Then it started getting late and Paul decided we had to leave.

So that was my weekend.

So, little brother is finally home after being here for over a week. Haven't had much time to be online since he sort of hijacked the comp. Then today I was waiting for a package for dad that never came and he just got a call that would be coming tomorrow.

Anyway, on to Thaksgiving stuff.

Sorry I haven't been on in, like, FOREVER. Lots going on this week. But before I go on, thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday. *hugs f-list*

And on to the stress and reason I haven't been on.

On Tuesday morning I went downstairs to go to the bathroom, but Uncle was in there. No big deal. WAited for a while, couldn't hold it anymore, had to improvise. Went back upstairs and started to drift off to sleep. Just about then, dad got up to go to the bathroom. I told him that about half an hour before Uncle had still been in there, so good luck. (Uncle had been pretty sick for a few days, so I didn't think too much of him taking a long time in the bathroom.) A few minutes later, dad calls me downstairs, so I go down. He's all "Go see if you can get a response out of him, I can't." So I went to the bathroomn door and called Uncle's name, no response and he was breathing funny. Dad called the ambulance. We were afraid he'd had another stroke. The ambulance finally made it here (is it bad that our town's main EMS workers just have to hear our last name and know where to go without an addy?) and got him to the hospital. Our little backyard guest made his way up by that point and we were talking about stuff while dad was getting ready so it took dad about an hour to get to the hospital. After a while, I went back to bed and had a small nap. When I got up I called dad to see what was going on.

Apperently, Uncle had been losing blood over the last week (he just had a 2 unit transfusion last Monday) and his blood pressure was so low that he was passing out. And where he thought he just had a bad cold, he had pnuemonia in one lung. They had to put him in the ICU to get rid of that before they could find out where he was leaking blood. He had 3 units by Tuesday night.

Well, just a little bit ago, dad got a call saying that they didn't think he was going to make it through the day and he didn't want to be alone, so he just headed off to the hospital. It's sad, but it's not really unexpected. He's been so frail lately and he just started Chemo about 2 weeks ago. Dad and I were kind of expecting this.

Well, now that I've thoroughly depressed you all, I have an appointment later and I still have to program the DVD player into our new Universal remote. I should get downstairs.
domino43: (1776 - violin?)
So, yesterday was Uncle's first Chemo appointment. Dad had an appointment with his lawyer for his Social Security/Disability case partway through it, so he wasn't sure if he'd be able to be there when it was over. I got recruited to drive the hour or so to take him up there. So we got there and it was supposed to take 6 hours. A little before 11am I called Pauly(oldest brother) to see if he wouldn't mind coming into town before work (he works on the other side of the city) to have lunch with me. He had a few things to do, as he had just woken up but said he'd be there in about 2 hours. So I sat out on the porch and did some "seek and circle" puzzles for a while. When Pauly got there we went to Downtown Toledo and went to Spaghetti Warehouse. I ended up paying for his lunch too. I figured, he kept me occupied and came up early, so it was the least I could do. He stopped at a new store that he wanted to check if they were opened yet and then he dropped me back off before heading to work. I think he actually ended up being a couple minutes late because he took so long in the store. :p

Hung out for a little while longer waiting for Uncle. A nurse came out and talked to me, gave me his info and stuff. He didn't get done until after 5:30 pm, so it actually took closer to 8 hours. (So far he's feeling alright, he says. No nausea or anything, just a tad more tired than usual.)

Then this morning I had to run into town and pick up his prescriptions. There were two from the chemo doctor that got called in, but we didn't get back to town until after they were closed. Plus he had some others he needed. I also stopped at the store and picked up some other things for him.

And now I need to go take a nap because I didn't sleep long last night and I have a plasma appointment in a few hours. *YAWN*

I went with dad to his 'other job' yesterday, just to get out of the house and, as is our practice when we're away from home, we talked about Uncle Sam. The man is driving me nuts.
